Home Stretch Transition Coach
Full-time
Remuneration Package: $84,130 – $107,449 based on skills and experience.
Duties that are required:
As a Home Stretch Transition Coach, you will provide one on one professional support, guidance and case coordination to young people transitioning from Out-of-Home-Care, offering them an extension of support and resources to the age of 21 years.
Following skills are required:
- Certificate IV Qualification in a relevant field or, two (2) years’ experience working in a community service front line role. Should a candidate not meet these requirements, at a minimum they must be prepared to undertake training to achieve this level.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture and the ability to work with Aboriginal young people, families and communities.
- A thorough understanding of the barriers and difficulties facing Aboriginal young people with experiences of Out-Of-Home-Care.
- Ability to assist Aboriginal young people to develop independent living skills.
- Ability to be innovative and flexible, work independently, demonstrate initiative and work effectively under pressure.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Organisational skills in order to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively.
- Up to date knowledge of resources in the youth services field, including education, training and employment.
- Demonstrated skills in safety management and dynamic risk assessment.
- Willingness to work across the local region on regular outreach: working in the client’s home, in local community centres and any other venue where a young people may require support.

Financial Capability

Duties that are required:
- Provide and operate an effective Financial Capability service to clients in the community.
- Assist individuals and families to build self-reliance, improve living standards and well being by improving financial and social function through increasing financial literacy and money management capacity.
- Design, develop and deliver target service activities as follows:
- Provide priority access to clients participating in income management, where appropriate;
- Ensure clients have access to basic financial literacy, education and support;
- Deliver one-on-one budgeting support to individuals; and/or non-accredited financial literacy community education workshops to clients and local groups;
- Help clients to build skills to avoid or resolve financial difficulties and strengthen their capacity to manage their money;
- Assist families at risk of homelessness to manage their finances and household expenses in order to prevent future accommodation crises;

Home Ownership Housing Support Officer
Full-time
Remuneration Package: $78,488 per annum
Duties that are required:
Supporting and assisting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals and families based in Hedland, who aspire and have the capacity to move towards home ownership, assistance to break down barriers that prevent them from moving towards home ownership, support for tenancy, employment and/or paid training and supporting participants to achieve the programs outcomes.
Following essential skills are required:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Administrative and organisational skills.
- Ability to manage time effectively.
- The ability to work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with clients.

Service Coordinator
Full-time
Renumeration Package: $100,000 – $115,000 based on skills and experience.
Duties that are required:
- Coordinate the Jobs and Skills Centre to achieve all KPI’s and performance related targets.
- Assist and coordinate to achieve outcomes for visits to outreach..
- CRM entries are entered onto a database by the end of each month.
- Assist with the annual Bloodwood Tree Career Expo.
- Liaise with key external stakeholders within the community.
- Deal with all Administration matters in a timely manner.
- Report to Operations Manager on a regular basis
Qualifications & experience:
- Previous experience in providing career, training and employment advice would be an advantage.

Administration Coordinator
Full-time
Remuneration package: $75,000 – $84,999 based on skills and experience.
Duties that are required:
Assist a small team of three staff to:
- Deliver educational workshops,
- Provide administration support;
- Book sessions and calendar control of the small team of three through outlook calendar.
- Assist with planning and bookings for outreach trips to Marble Bar, Newman and Tom Price.
- Assist in the development and production of culturally appropriate education resources and materials

Driver Training Instructor
Full-time
Remuneration Package: $84,130 – $107,449 based on skills and experience.
Duties consist of the following:
- Assist in addressing personal governance issues;
- assist with resolving suspensions of Motor Drivers Licence (MDL);
- preparation for Learners Permit theory test;
- practical driving instruction by qualified driving instructors;
- assistance for undertaking Department of Transport practical driving assessment;
- supervision of driving to satisfy log book hours required for a provisional MDL;
- assist with hazard perception test and application for MDL;
- education and awareness of legal requirements and personal responsibilities for maintaining a MDL and vehicle registrations.
- Remote travel is required each quarter to Newman and Tom Price.
Following Skills are required:
- ‘C’ Class Driver’s License held for a minimum of 4 continuous years and be over 21 years of age; however, Bloodwood Tree will provide support and training opportunities to assist the Driving Instructor to develop these skills.
- Ability to work with Aboriginal people caught up in the Justice system.
- Remote travel each quarter.
- Excellent time management and organisation skills.

Driver/Training Coordinator
Full-time
Remuneration Package: $96,024 – $120,911 based on skills and experience.
Duties that are required:
- Identify local needs and priorities in relation to AOD prevention in collaboration with the BTA AOD team and other agencies.
- Proactive collaboration with other agencies, professionals, and community groups, to develop, implement and report on strategies, activities, and events to support community action to reduce and prevent AOD related harms in the Hedland area and nearby communities as required.
- Represent BTA and the PCADS-AOD team at forums/meetings as required.
- Work with stakeholders and play an active role in reviewing and implementing the PHAODMP (Port Hedland Alcohol and Other Drug Management Plan) and associated Volatile Substance Use plan.
- Deliver responsive prevention services to local communities, in partnership with stakeholders. Contribute to the planning of regional AOD prevention and intervention programs
Qualifications and skills required:
- Knowledge, skills, qualifications and /or experience in health promotion and/or health education or related community and services work involving other relevant skills and knowledge.
- Independent ability to plan activities and events and execute in a collaborative way with other stakeholder.
- Good understanding or ability to quickly develop knowledge of the local agencies and organisations involved in health services delivery and other social services.
- Experience working with Aboriginal communities and stakeholders and an understanding of Aboriginal culture and heritage.

Alcohol & Other Drugs (AOD) Diversion Officer
Full-time
Remuneration Package: Level 6.1-7.1 Aboriginal Communities and Organisations (WA) Award 2024.
Duties include:
Provision of the Western Australia Diversion Program (WADP) delivery in a manner consistent with the service requirements Alcohol and other Drug Diversion Treatment.
You will work closely with the Alcohol & Other Drug team and provide treatment delivery which includes the provision of assessment, treatment and referrals in a manner consistent with the service requirements for;
- Provision of priority access for clients referred through the WADP.
- Provide AOD assessment to determine client suitability for participation in a Diversion Program.
- Provide individual counselling to clients within the Western Australia Diversion Program framework.
- Write assessments and recommendations to the court on clients AOD use and treatment needs
- Provide a referral service to clients seeking the Diversion Program.
- Provide harm minimisation information to clients.
- Oversee and support existing activities
- Provide one on one counselling to clients
- Maintain accurate client reports and report key stakeholders as required
- Ensure Occupational Safety and Health guidelines are followed in the workplace.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience required:
- Relevant tertiary or equivalent qualification in Social, Behavioural or Health Sciences or significant experience in counselling or the Alcohol and Other Drug field.
- Experience in working with people with AOD issues.
- Demonstrated skills in supervising workers in the provision of effective service delivery to people and the capability to motivate, empower and lead a team to meet program goals and objectives.
- Experience in working supportively and therapeutically with people, specifically Aboriginal community and cross-cultural settings and the capacity and commitment to assist them to achieve positive change in their lives.
- Demonstrated experience managing a program to facilitated various activities across different locations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrate good decision making in dealing with safety issues and with aggressive and/or intoxicated clients, if required.
- Effective verbal and listening communications skills.

Alcohol & Other Drugs Counsellor
Full-time
Remuneration Package: $102,000 per annum + Housing Allowance & Vehicle
Duties consist of the following:
Based at Bloodwood Tree provide alcohol & other drug counselling, prevention education, provide assessment, education, and support to individuals/families, deliver group therapies, have extensive experience in developing, planning, promoting AOD programs to individuals, families and community groups.
This role provides services and support to our clients, as well as to our locally based Sobering up Centre and outreach to surrounding communities such as Warralong, Yandeyarra and Marble Bar. The role involves counselling, community prevention education, treatment referrals, working with local services for wrap around case management; liaison with local service providers.
Following skills are required:
- 4 year degree with 1 year’s relevant experience; or 3 year degree with 2 years’ relevant* experience; or lesser formal qualifications with substantial years of relevant experience (e.g., 5-7 years); or equivalent level of expertise and experience attained through previous appointments, service, and/or study (e.g., 7-9 years). *Relevant, e.g., Psychology, Social Work, Youth Work, Mental Health Nursing, Occupational Therapy, or other Allied Health, or similar Community, Welfare or Behavioural/Social Sciences/Care;
- Experience in the Alcohol and Other Drug or Mental Health sector;
- Experience in working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people along with solid understanding of Aboriginal culture;
- Experience driving regionally including driving for long distances/extended periods;
- Demonstrated knowledge of the alcohol & other drug service system and the range of treatment options available;
- Demonstrated decision making in dealing with safety issues and with aggressive and/or intoxicated clients;
- Counselling experience and being able to manage own case files and enter relevant data;
- Stress management skills, time management skills and be able to work cooperatively as part of a team;
- Written and interpersonal skills of a high order and the ability to cope with the sometimes-demanding conditions of a remote area;
- Willingness to obtain a Police Clearance and valid work with children check;
- Current ‘C’ Class WA drivers Licence.
